Context
Developed to welcome and guide new faculty members and undergraduate students at the Institute of Biosciences, São Paulo State University (UNESP), this project addressed the challenge of consolidating and communicating essential institutional information in an accessible way. At the time, the guides were distributed as interactive executable CDs — a practical offline solution that allowed users to easily navigate through relevant content without requiring an internet connection.
Design & Purpose
Two versions were created — one for faculty, another for students — each organized into thematic sections such as teaching, research, academic policies, and institutional services. The design prioritized clarity, autonomy, and user experience, allowing each person to explore the content at their own pace. The goal was to make essential information easy to find and to help newcomers feel oriented, informed, and part of the university environment from day one.
Impact
Between 2016 and 2018, the guides were used to onboard over 600 undergraduate students and 20 faculty members. They offered a structured and self-guided experience that complemented institutional communication and simplified access to information for both students and professors.
